"Another name has to be added to the list of local lads who have given their lives for Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Blatch, of Colo Vale, have received official news that their son Benjamin has been killed in a meteorological flight over Iceland. Bennie was a modest lad and was highly respected by all who knew him. Deepest sympathy is felt for the bereaved family." - from the Bowral Southern Mail 04 Aug 1944 (nla.gov.au)
