Son of Otto Pieter and Emma Hayward Blom, of Glen Iris, Victoria, Australia.
ALWAYS REMEMBERED
George Henry Blom was attending the Fort Street High School, Petersham, in 1936, undertaking his Intermediate Certificate. His results were English - B; History - B; Geography - A; Mathematics I – B; Mathematics II - B; Elementary Science (Physics & Chemistry) – B; Business Principles – B; and Shorthand – B, and he won the Taylor prize for geography at Intermediate level. Three years later he passed his final Accountancy examination in the subject of Advanced Accounting.
He enlisted on 8 November 1941 and was serving with 450 Squadron when he died.
Pilot Officer George Henry Blom lost his life during the afternoon of 11 September 1944 as result of a motor transport accident. He was travelling in a motor vehicle which became involved in a collision near Fojano North west of Perugia, Italy, and was admitted to hospital suffering injuries from which he died immediately.
