Son of George Howell Blundell and Augusta Blundell of Lane Cove, NSW

 

Flight Lieutenant Blundell of 1 Aircraft Depot, Laverton was flying Mosquito aircraft A52-1013 on a solo flight as part of an approved air display when he crashed near the base.

 

He previously flew Bristol Beaufighter aircraft with RAAF 31 Squadron in action against the Japanese in the South West Pacific theatre taking part in long-range fighter and ground-attack missions.
