Ronald Lionel Lister BODIE was born on 5th April, 1922 in Campbelltown, NSW
His parents were Albert Frank Lionel BODIE and Elsie Gertrude McGLASHAN who married in 1917 in Victoria
He enlisted in Melbourne on 28th February, 1942 with the RAAF
Ronald was a Flying Officer in the crew of a Catalina A24-90 which took off from Darwin on a mission against Makasssar in the Celebes - they failed to return to base and later it was found that they had been shot down by machine gun fire over enemy occupied territory - only 3 crew members survived and they were taken as Prisoners of War by the Japanese
He was listed as missing presumed dead on 14th October, 1944 at Makassar, Java, East Indies
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Ambon Memorial
His father Sqd.Ldr. Albert Lionel BODIE (/explore/people/797264) b. 1881 Warwick, England was a Squadron Leader in the RAAF (SN2928) enlisted 14th Sept. 1925
