Athelstan Kendall BOSGARD was born in Enmore, Sydney on 8th February, 1914
His parents were Laurits BOSGARD & Eleanora WHITTINGHAM who married in St Johns Church, Darlinghurst, Sydney on 8th October 1903
He enlisted in Paddington on 29th June 1940 & was promoted to Lieutenant on 1st August, 1940 and to Captain on 19th June 1942
Athelstan was Killed in Action at Buna, Papua New Guinea on 27th November, 1942 and was buried in Soputa War Cemetery and later reinterred in Bomana War Cemetery

His father Laurits BOSGARD (previously BAADSGAARD) came from Denmark and served in the Australian Army Medical Corp during WW1 as a dentist - he returned to Australia in 1917 (SN 996)
His brother Donald Gordon BOSGARD (SN NX79163) served in the Army during WW2 - discharged 12th July, 1946 (2/9th Infantry Battalion)
Another brother Peter Whittingham BOSGARD (SN PX9) was also in the Army during WW2 and was discharged on 22nd November, 1945 (2/15th Battalion)
