Sergeant Boyd 409019 of Air Force Headquarters / 2 Aircraft Park Bankstown was reported missing while on a ferry flight in Kittyhawk A29-40 from Bankstown to New Guinea

The aircraft crashed off the Queensland coast from Proserpine - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on Panel 6 of the Sydney Memorial
