Leading Aircraftman Robert Allan Ross Braye 6137 was collecting a new coil for his truck from Number 121 Maintenance Unit RAF in Tobruk when a single German aircraft bombed the camp

LAC Braye was killed instantly in the enemy attack while Corporal Alexander Campbell 8788 was seriously injured and admitted to Number 62 General Hospital at Tobruk

LAC Braye was buried the next day by the 118 kilo post on the Tobruk to Derna road near Gazala Number 2 airstrip

His parents were Thomas Alfred Inglis BRAYE & Sarah Brewer WILLIAMS who married in Morpeth, NSW in 1892

He married Gladys Olive GUMBLETON in Cessnock NSW in 1940
