"ACCIDENTAL DEATH

News has been received in Guildford of the accidental death of Gunner Alan Butler (21), single, whose parents reside at the Esplanade. It is understood that, while acting as a motor-cycle despatch rider, he swerved to avoid a straying horse. He later died in a military hospital. Members of Guildford Comforts Fund, at their meeting last week, stood in silence in tribute to his memory. A letter of sympathy has been sent to the bereaved family."from the Cumberland Argus 08 Sep 1943 (nla.gov.au)
