Flight Sergeant Alfred William (Bill) Buxton was the son of Alfred Buxton and Ida Pearl Buxton of Subiaco Western Australia.
Flt Sgt Buxton enlisted on 21 June 1941 and trained as a pilot. He was posted to 103 Squadron RAF at Leicester, England. He died as a result of an accident at or near Leicester on 8 September 1943, aged 23.
The Lancaster aircraft (JB153) flight accident was made more tragic as the flight was a familiarisation one for three air cadets (from 1180 Squadron ATC) aged from 14 years to 17 who were killed in the crash along with all the other crew members.
