Sub.-Lieut. A. E. Byrne. 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Byrne, 8th Avenue, Kedron, was called up for active service at the outbreak. He  had been a member of the reserve since August, 1939. He served at Port Moresby for nine months, and was commissioned and  transferred to the Warrego. He joined the Sydney's crew in April this year. He was educated at the Kedron State School and the  State High School. Before the war he was employed at the Queensland Can Co.
