Son of Archibald James Cameron and Anne McConnell Cameron; husband of Ivy Maud Cameron, of Mackay, Queensland.

Finlay lowered his age by 2 years to enlist.  On 6th July 1942 he was wounded in action during the fall of Singapore with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and taken Prisoner of War.  On 18th July 1942 he was transported abouart UBI MARU to Sandakan Harbour.  He died whilst a Prisoner of War.

GNR. FINLAY CAMERON.
Advice has been received that QX8427 Gunner Finlay Cameron died on June 7, 1945, while a prisoner of war in Japanese hands in Borneo. Gunner Cameron fell into Japanese hands at the surrender of Singapore. He was 45 years of age. He is survived by his wife and three children. Deceased was born at Upper Copmanhurst where he lived until he was 19. when he went to Queensland. He resided in Queensland until he enlisted early in the war.
