INCIDENT REPORT

At 0115pm 17th June 42 Hudson A16-132 left on a diverging track search from Hughes.
The aircraft was to search tracks out from Darwin. A signal was received from the aircraft stating that an engine had failed and requesting arrangements to be made for the machine to land. Fire Tender, Doctor and Ambulance were present at the aerodrome. It is estimated that the position at the time of sending its S.O.S. the aircraft was 12 deg. 002' 128 deg. 40'E.
Searches were ordered to search for the aircraft but with nil results.
