MEREWETHER PILOT IN LIBERATORS Among Australian pilots flying the Liberators which are hampering the Japanese commmmnications in Burma is Flying Officer William Quinn, 22 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Quinn, of Burwood-street, Mere wether. Operating with the Allied Strategic Air Force, the Liberators have their headquarters in the Calcutta area. Australians who took part in a recent raid on the railway yards at Maymyo, in Burma, included Flying Officer Quinn, Pilot Officer William McReady, of Sydney, Flight Sergeant Alex Baker, of Wagga, and Flight Sgt. Reginald Crowley, of Melbourne. These Liberators also recently undertook a difficult mission against tle railway yards and jetties at Moulmein, Southern Burma, this trip involving a 10-hour round flight from bases in Bengal through violent pre-monsoonal storms. The group with which these pilots are operating is commanded by Air Commodore F. W. J. Mellersh, R.A.F.
