Robert Maynard CRUICKSHANK was born in Hobart, Tasmania on 16th June 1913

His parents were Lieutenant/Colonel Maynard Hayes CRUICKSHANK & Nancie Doris CHALMERS

He married Shirley Helen CAMPBELL in Watsons Bay in Sydney, NSW in 1940

Robert was Killed in Action in Syria on 11th June 1941 and initially buried in Beirut War Cemetery - he was reburied in the Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery

His father Maynard Hayes CRUICKSHANK served as a Lieutenant in the Boer War in the 8th Commonwealth Horse & during WW1 with the 33rd Infantry Battalion & during WW2 (SN V159786) posting at discharge Headquarters Tasmanian Force.

His grandfather James Henry Robert CRUICKSHANK was with the Royal Bombay Engineers & died in Hobart, Tasmania in 1916
