George Ernest CUCKSON was born on 14th July, 1900 in Sheffield, England
His parents were George Ernest CUCKSON and Lily HELLIWELL - The family arrived in Queensland in 1910 on ship DORSET
He enlisted for WW1 in Rockhampton, Queensland on 16th October 1917 with the 31st Battalion - unit embarked from Sydney on board RMS Ormonde on 2nd March, 1918 - George returned to Australia on 15th January 1919
In 1921 he married Alice May SEIFFER on 31st October 1921 in St Marys Church, West Maitland NSW (surname is also listed as SCHIFFER)
He enlisted in Kelvin Grove, Queensland & also served in WW2 as a Gunner in the Australian Army - Unit 2/10 Field Regiment Royal Australian Artillery
He died of Cholera on 29th June 1943 at a POW Camp in Kami, Sonkurai, Thailand and is buried in Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Myanmar, Burma
