Biography

Lionel Aloysius DARRAGH was born on 7th June, 1919 in Kyogle, NSW

His parents were William Charles DARRAGH and Mary Rose BYRNE

He enlisted  with the Army on 11th March, 1941 as a Private - his last posting was with the 2/18th Australian Infantry Battalion- Service no. NX69767

Listed as missing in Malaysia  1st April, 1942 and 4th October 1943 and was in  Borneo Camp 16th October 1944

He died on 20th June 1945 and is buried somewhere along the track between Sandakan and Ranau  while a prisoner of the Japanese

His name is listed at the Labuan War Memorial, Malaysia
