Rollo was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1920 (BDM NSW No:25858/1920), only child of Roland Victor Golding (b1893 in London, England) and Ellen Christina Nancy Castelli (b1893 in Bringelly, New South Wales). Roland Snr immigrated in 1913, arriving in Sydney on board the Beltana. He was a Printer in January 1920 when he and Ellen married - Roland Snr died in June 1920 before his son was born. Ellen remarried to Arthur Frederick Davis (aka Leslie Frederick and Arthur Frederick Hais/Hais). Arthur had served in the AIF in WWI, and was a Labourer and Wharf Labourer in Sydney - he and Ellen had four children together.
