David Erskine Ellis DEAN was born on 18th May, 1923 in Hobart, Tasmania
His parents were Ellis Erle DEAN and Edith Alice Mary GROVE - his father Ellis served in both WW1 and WW2
He enlisted with the Royal Australian Air Force on 9th October, 1941 in Hobart - his posting on death was with the 467 Squadron
He embarked from Sydney for the United Kingdom on 24th August, 1942
David was listed as missing as a result of air operations over Hamburg - his body has never been found & it is presumed he was lost at sea - He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, (panel 192) and also on the Australian War Memorial

MISSING AIRMAN - Flight Sergeant David Erskine Dean, RAAF who was reported missing on July 28 after operations over Hamburg is now presumed dead. He is the only son of Mrs. & Mrs. Ellis Dean of New Town and is in his 21st year
