Bill was the fourth of seven children of Gordon McArthur Docker (born 1880 at Bontharambo in Wangaratta, Victoria) and Mabel May Dobson (born 1906 in Emu Bay, Tasmania). Gordon, a Farmer, and Mabel settled in Boat Harbour where theyr aised their family.
Bill, a Travelling Salesman, married Ivy Myrtle King (born 1913 in Myalla, Tasmania) in 1935 in Myalla. Bill and Ivy settled in Burnie and had two children, and Bill worked as a Travelling Salesman. He enlisted in the Army in April 1943, and was a Driver (Service no: TX14441) with 123 General Transport Coy AASC. Bill was with several other men on a trip to Ralph's Bay when the dinghy was swamped by fairly heavy seas, and Bill drowned (Advocate, Burnie, Tasmania 18 December 1944). Bill's name is located at Panel 80 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial
Younger brother Alan served with the RAAD (Service No: 31117) and Sister - in - Law, Herilda Alice Herbert, was a Sergeant (Service No: VF510714) with the Australian Women's Army Service.
