Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Dowling, of Bega, New South Wales, Australia.
Private Dowling enlisted in August 1942 and saw service in Australia prior to being sent to Morotai in August 1945. Whilst serving with the 17 Advance Ordnance Depot, his death was accidental. On 14 March 1946 Pte Dowling was 200 yards off Morotai shore when he was killed as a result of an explosive device detonating. His body was not found and he is memorialised on the Ambon Memorial.
