Add my storyBiography
This man is my maternal uncle. He enlisted under the name John Fell, but that was not his real name. He was actually born Robert Pollock in Scotland c.1909, and he emigrated to Australia during 1914. My mother said that he enlisted under an assumed name to avoid being refused entry, due to his employment being a "protected occupation", namely a steel-worker.
I have several photos of him taken in a studio in Egypt not long before his death. I also have the letter from his C/O to my grandmother who was listed as his next of kin. He was struck by a truck at night in El Alamein and suffered throat and chest injuries dying 2 days later. - Jeff Brooks
