Biography

"...21233 Steward,  Eric Norman Finn of Oakleigh, SA... Enlisting in the RAN in September 1936, Std Finn was on board HMAS Sydney II during its service in the Mediterranean before being discharged in July 1941 and reenlisting in the Army as a Lance Corporal (LCpl) in September 1941 with the serial number VX64081. Serving in the Pacific campaign with the 2/29 Battalion, LCpl Finn was captured by Japanese forces at Singapore in February 1942, and died of illness whilst a prisoner of war on 26 June 1943. At the time of his death, LCpl Finn was aged 25." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
