Biography contributed by David Barlow

Son of Harry James Flint and Ethel Muriel Flint of Chelsea, Victoria

RAAF Tiger Moth A17-482 crashed in an open allotment near the Rockhampton Show Grounds - the pilot was Sergeant Harry James Flint 11838 of Number 1 Rescue and Communication Flight (Port Moresby) who was badly burnt in the crash.

He was rescued from his burning aircraft by three US Servicemen from the 41st Ordnance Company of the 41st Infantry Division who were camped at the Rockhampton Showgrounds but he died soon afterwards in the hospital.

The three American servicemen (20941891 Technical Sergeant Keith, O.J. / 20931572 Sergeant Boardman, W.C. / 20941783 Corporal Wilson, E.W.) that attempted to rescue the pilot were awarded the Soldier's Medal for Bravery by Major General H. H. Fuller at the Rockhampton Showgrounds on 22 December 1942
