Son of Christin Frederich Wilhelm Zillmann and Auguste Wilhelmine Zillman nee Schafer of Summer Hill, Laidley, QLD.

Commenced return to Australia on 5 November 1917 aboard HT Themistocles disembarking on 3 January 1918 at Sydhey then overland to Brisbane.
