Son of Walter John and Victoria Foreman; husband of Thelma Sarita Foreman, of Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia.
Wallace Roy Foreman enlisted in June 1940 and joined No. 13 Squadron in March 1941.
No. 13 Squadron was formed at Darwin, Northern Territory in June 1940, with personnel detached from No 12 Squadron. The unit soon took delivery of Lockheed Hudson twin-engined patrol bombers and began reconnaissance and shipping patrols across Northern Australia. At the commencement of hostilities with Japan, No. 13 Squadron was divided, with a flight of six Hudsons already at Laha on Ambon and another six at Namlea in the Dutch East Indies.
Sgt Foreman was flying in Lockheed Hudson A16-69 on the night of 10 December 1941. Approximately 15 minutes after take-off, the aircraft was observed to spin from approximately 400 feet and striking water, it immediately burst into flames. All four men on board were killed and no bodies were recovered.
Those on board were Wing Commander JRG McDonald, Flying Officer R Pope, Sergeant WR Foreman and Sergeant WJ Nagel.
