Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Roy was the second son of Walter and Georgina GEE, of Bauple, Qld.

ALWAYS REMEMBERED

His untimely death was totally unexpected as he was about to return home on leave, and in a letter to his sister received about 10 days ago, he stated that he was quite well.

A thorough gentleman both on and off the tennis court, Roy had endeared himself to a wide circle of friends who will mourn the loss of a genuine sportsman.  Roy answered his country's call in its hour of need, taking into the Army those sterling qualities which made him and his type, men in the real sense of the word.

At the time of cometitive tennis was abandoned in Maryborough because of the war conditions, Roy held the Kaminski and Stanley Byrne Memorial Cups.  Among his notable successes where the winning of the open singles championships at Bundaberg and Kingaroy.

Educated at Bauple School, at the time he entered the Army he was attached to the Main Roads Commission.

He is survived by his father, two sisters, Mrs. F.E. ('Dinty') Taylor and Miss Shirley Gee (WRANS), and three brothers, Messres Percy (Tiaro) and Thomas Gee (Bauple) and L/C. Lionel Gee, AIF, who has also served in New Guinea.
