Rowland T. Pickering enlisted about the same time as his brother, but was placed in the ,13th Reinforcements of the 3rd Battalion. He worked in the blacksmith's shop at Clyde Engineering Works in Auburn. 

He was later drafted into C Company of the 3rd Battalion along with his brother 3192 Private Frank Hessell Pickering 3rd Battalion who was also killed in action at Pozieres on 22 July 1916.

Mr. Fank Pickering, chief clerk at Clyde Sideing, Auburn, has been officially notified of the death of his second son Roalnd T. (Sol) Pickering who has been killed in action in France.  Mr. Pickering's eledest son, Signaller F.H. Pickering has been missing since July 24.  The latter was a well-known telegraphist at Parliament House, where he was familiarly known as 'Snow'.  Roland was employed for several years at the Clyde Engineering Works, Granville.
