"...VX6412 Private James Dobson Greer, 2/8th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Greer, aged 32, died on 2 September 1941, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being reported missing in action in May 1941 while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of William James Greer and Mary Elizabeth Greer, of Whorouly South, Vic. He is buried in the Phaleron War Cemetery Section 2, Row E, Plot 12." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
