Biography

William Hogg HALYBURTON was born on 29th October 1905 in Scotland

His parents were William Cullen HALYBURTON and Margaret Muir HOGG who also came to Australia - his father died in 1946 and mother in 1947

He married Muriel Evelyn BERRY in 1932 - she died in 1973 Sydney

He joined the Royal Australian Naval Reserve  on 24th May, 1940 and was posted on ships Penguin, Colac & Matafele  - Service No. S4117 

The ship Matafele & all crew aboard were lost at sea between 18th & 24th June, 1944 in the Coral Sea, Pacific Islands

William name appears on the Plymouth Naval Memorial & also the Australian War Memorial
