James Henry Harding was the youngest of 5 Children of William Harding and Emma Wilson. Wlliam was a Carter in Silkstone, Ipswich, QLD.
James' older brother William John Harding also served in the Australian Army in WWII.
James was working as a Farm Labourer at Rosewood on the Darling Downs in QLD when he enlsited in 9 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (QLD) on 19 March 1942 (Service No: Q228422). He then enlisted with 2.3rd Pioneer Battalion on 3 September 1943 and was Killed in Action on 20 May 1945 at Tarakan in Borneo. James is buried at the Labuan Memorial in Indonesia, and his name is located on Panel 73 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial
