Son of William Valentine and Annie Elizabeth Harris, of Minnivale.
Gloom was cast over the Minnivale district on receipt of the news of the death of Alick William Harris on July 21, at Northam General Military Hospital, following a short illness. The deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Harris, of Minnivale, which family holds a proud record of national service. The father is a veteran of the last war, two daughters (R.A.A.F.) and another son (Don) are on active service at the present time. Military honours were accorded the deceased who was interred in the Northam Cemetery (Military section). Padre Bishop Elsey conducted the service while the 139th Aust. General Transport (deceased's unit) provided pall bearers and Guard of Honour. At the conclusion of service, the "Last Post" and "Reveille" were sounded.
Many friends and relatives gathered at the graveside to pay their last respects.
