Flight Sergeant John Joseph Hayes 409406 & Warrant Officer George Frederick Quinn 416999 of Number 1 Aircraft Depot Ferry Flight, Laverton, Victoria were killed in the loss of Wirraway aircraft A20-634 at Island Lagoon, 150 miles north-west of Port Augusta, SA
