The Great Grandson of William Ellis, who was at the Charge of the Light Brigade, and the son of William Stewart Head and Daisy Lillian La Farre. 

Born 2nd Feb, 1915.

The family immigrated to Australia in 1922 and lived in Auburn, NSW. Frederick had 6 brothers and one sister. He enlisted with two of his brothers in 1940. He was a sapper with the 2/13th Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers.  Both his brothers returned home.

Frederick died on 1st September, 1942 at El Alamain. 

He is buried at the El Alamain Cemetery, Reference Al. B. 10.
