Son of Augustus Walter Oakley and Mary Theresa Oakly of Dryburgh Street, North Melbourne, Victoria.
Invalided to Australia on 17 March 1916 aboard HS Ascanius due to shell shock later embarked to return to AIF in France
In October 1921 Alfred was living in Surrey, England. In 1946 he was residing in Moonee Ponds, Victoria having returned via New Zealand
