David Leo Pimpernell HOTCHIN was born on 23rd June, 1891 in Hawthorn, Victoria

His parents were David Webb HOTCHIN & Jessie Maria BROWN who married in 1890

He married Margaret Ellen TULLY on 12th July, 1915 in Hawthorn - two known children, Jean & David.

Prior to enlisting in WW1 he served in the Victorian Rifles for 3 years & 8 months as a Corporal.

He served during WW1 in the No. 2 Company of the 4th Depot Battalion in Seymour, Victoria and was discharged as medically unfit and re-enlisted to serve during WW2 - he was taken as a prisoner of war on 29th March, 1943.

David died of Illness whilst a prisoner of war of the Japanese in Borneo on 7th March, 1945 - no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Labuan War Memorial
