The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 207. Donald lived at Manildra NSW prior to enlistment in the AIF, hence his NX regimental number. Later, he was transferred into the 2nd/16th Inf Bn with whom he was serv ing as a private soldier at the time of his wounds in battle, causing his Death from the wounds 30th Oct 1943. Rest In Peace.
