Son of Arthur and Lily May Inkster of Manly, NSW

Plane was Kittyhawk A29-36 lost at Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea. The plane took off with another Kittyhawk for a security patrol over the base. About 15 minutes after taking off they intercepted a formation of 12 zeros at about 1500 feet. George's aircraft was damaged during the combat and he appeared to attempt a forced landing but at a 300 feet his aircraft went out of control and crashed
