Son of Robert Ewen Alexander and Linda Muriel Jeffrey; husband of Marie Patricia Jeffery, of Five Dock.
Horace Ewen Kingsbury Jeffery enlisted in the RAAF on 19 March 1942 as a Flight Mechanic. After initial recruit and trade training he re-mustered to Fitter in February 1943 and was transferred to 13 ARD at Tocumwal.
He returned briefly to Sydney to marry, then on the afternoon of 26 March 1943 Horace went swimming in the Murray River. As he swam out to a diving platform, calls for help were heard by two Airmen but they were unable to locate him. His body was recovered three days later, Private Jeffery drowned at the age of 29, he had been married just 11 days.
