Son of William James Jeffrey and Edith Emily Jeffrey, of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia; husband of Annette Marie Jeffrey, of Hawthorn, Victoria.
Among the 38 members of the R.A.A.F. and R.A.F. who received awards recently were Flying Officer Frank william Jeffrey, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Jeffrey, of Myrtle Street, and Flying Officer Arthur John Maoline, of Ascot Vale, and formerly of Bendigo. The two airmen were schoolmates in Bendigo, and have been together in aid operations.
Flying Officer Jeffrey obtained his commission before war broke out with Japan, and he had 1060 flying hourse to his credit before he went north. For some time he was at Por Moresby and other places in the Solomons. Both men have been mentioned in despateches "For services in N.E. Area". The announcement of the award in respect to Flying officer Jeffrey states: "As a navigator and bombadier, Jeffrey has completed many night bombing raids, reconnaissances, and supply dropping flights."
The crew and plane disappeard in 1944 and were never found.
