"I have been thinking about Les and one or two things have come to mind, but unfortunately not what school he went to
His Dad was Frank Jenner, an Accountant in one of Katannings General Stores
He was the church organist and Les was a member of the church choir
He had the most beautiful bass voice and it was always a joy to hear him harmonising behind me as I sang boy soprano in the row in front of him

Leslie Herbert JENNER was born on 30th October, 1917 in Chertsey, England

His parents were Frank JENNER and Mary Ann STONESTREET who married in 1910 in England (marriage registered at Ticehurst)

He enlisted in Northam, Western Australia on 22nd June, 1940 with the 2nd /16th Infantry Battalion

Leslie was wounded on 22nd October, 1943 with gun shot wounds to his right thigh & right knee

He died from these wounds on 23rd October, 1943 in New Guinea and is buried in the Lae War Cemetery

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Roll of Honour in Katanning, Western Australia
