Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Brothers Michael Francis Starr and Patrick James Starr were both killed by shellfire in action 4 October 1917. Both are remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial and gave their home town as Healsville Victoria.

Michael, 28, and Patrick Starr, 22, died whilst serving with the 6th Battalion, the Australian Imperial Force. Sons of Mary Starr, of "Comely Bank," Healsville, Victoria, and the late Michael Starr, they were well known at Bendigo and Footscray, Victoria respectively. The brothers have no known grave, and are commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, Ypres. They also had two other brothers who served in the AIF, both returned safely to Australia, Phillip Henry Starr and John Robert Starr.
