Flight Sergeant William Reginald Bell Johnston 1484 from Number 1 Engineering School at Ascot Vale died at Caulfield RGH (Victoria) having been admitted to hospital on the 16th of December 1940 dangerously ill

William Johnston served in the British Army (ASC - Army Service Corps) during WW1 - enlisting in 1914 and serving until 1923 - for his WW1 service he earnt the 1914 Star; GS Medal & Victory Medal (for his service during WW2 he earnt the War Medal)

From 1923 to 1926 he served in the Palestine Gendarmerie as a Constable

He enlisted in the RAAF on the 15th of April 1929 and served until his death from TB on the 2nd of April 1941 (his nominal roll entry indicates that he was discharged from the RAAF on the 20th of March 1941 - however, his NAA Pers file has a notice that that decision was revoked upon his death)
