Son of Leslie Rupert and Ada Elizabeth Jones; husband of Beryl Emily Jones, of Manly
Allan Leslie Jones was 19 years old when he enlisted in the RAAF as a Clerk on 26 March 1940. After remustering to Aircrew in July 1941 he served at many locations and trained as a Wireless Operator. He was promoted to Warrant Officer in May 1944 and posted to 7 OTU in December 1944.
On 14 February 1945 Allen was on board Liberator A72-112 which had returned from a long-range bombing exercise. Due to poor visibility the aircraft was unable to locate the runway and after numerous attemps impacted the ground. Nine crew members survived, one died later from his injuries and Warrant Officer Jones was killed instantly.
