James Henry Hyndman KESSACK was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 9th May ,1903

His parents were Captain James O'Connor KESSACK & Margaret Evans Weir CUNNINGHAM

He was Killed in Action in Southport, Sefton, Merseyside, England on 28th April, 1941 while attempting to make a mine safe - he was cremated in the Glasgow Crematorium and his ashes returned to Australia for burial (place unknown)

His father Captain James O'Connor KESSACK was Killed in Action in 1916 when serving with the 25th Middlesex Regiment

His brother David Stevenson KESSACK (SN NX28658) served in the 2nd/33rd Australian Infantry Battalion and died in Syria during WW2 on 31st August, 1941

His mother Margaret lost both her husband James & two sons James & David in WW1 & WW2 - she also had a daughter who came to Australia with her & they lived in Terrigal, NSW on the Central Coast

James was posthumously awarded a George Medal on 22nd January, 1943 for courage, initiative & devotion to duty
