Warrant Officer Kingston 400386 of 8SQN / 1SQN was taken prisoner on Java by the Japanese in February 1942 and was held in POW camps in Thailand, Burma and at Fukuoka in Japan

After his liberation in September 1945 he returned to Melbourne and was receiving treatment at Heidelberg Military Hospital prior to his untimely death
