Able Seaman John Lang is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lang, Macrossan Avenue, Coorparoo. Before enlisting in the Navy, in September, 1940, he was a plasterer in the State Public Works Department, and was one of Brisbane's best tennis and table tennis players. For two years he and Charles "Chic" Shaw, former Australian table tennis champion, now in the Navy, held the South Brisbane Tennis Association's doubles title.
