Biography

"LATE PTE. E. P. WRIGHT.

Our O'Halloran Hill correspondent writes:— Much sorrow was felt here on Tuesday when it became known that Pte. Ernest Percy Wright had died at Malta from wounds received at the Dardanelles on August 7. He was the second son of Mr. W. J. Wright, of this district, and prior to enlisting had lived all his life at O'Halloran Hill. He was educated at the local State school. He enlisted early in   December, and sailed in February. He was wounded early in the struggle, when he had a finger shot off, but he recovered and returned to the front, when he received fatal bomb wounds in the left hand and both legs. He was 24 years of age on March 5. He was the first to enlist from O'Halloran Hill." - from the Adelaide Observer 18 Sep 1915 (nla.gov.au)
