Biography contributed by David Barlow

Son of Charles Albert and Margaret Sullivan Lenne of Echuca, Victoria

Pilot Officer Hubert Albert Lenne 375 was severely injured in the loss of RAAF Wirraway aircraft A20-53 of 24SQN near St. Lawrence, QLD on 29 November 1940 but died in Mackay hospital on 19 December 1940

The Air Observer, Sergeant Geoffry Henry Ellis 205448, was injured in the crash and was then badly burned when he extracted the pilot from the burning wreck.  He was awarded the George Medal in 1941 for his efforts in trying to save the pilot.  He survived the war and was discharged on 14 December 1945 as a Flight Lieutenant.
