John Arthur was born on 20 October 1920 in Loch, Victoria, Australia,To Clyde and Florence Loh. He was the eldest of six children consisting of one brother and four sisters. John enlisted in the Australian Army on 28 August 1942, he died on 7 July 1943 (KIA) in Papua New Guinea at the age of 22, and was buried in Lae, Morobe, Papua New Guinea.
