Son of Percy Edward and Elva Jane May Long, of Hawthorne, Queensland, Australia.

Flight Sergeant Arthur Stephen Long, eldest son of Mr. and MRs. P.S. Long came to the College with his brother Flight Sergeant Gordon Long in 1938, passing the Senior Public Examination in 1939.  Until he joined the R.A.A.F. in 1942 he was on the staff of the NSW Bank at various branches in Brisbane and the country.  After training for a time in the Air Force he beacame a Sergeant Observer and then went to Cananda and enlgand where he completed his operational training.  Twelve months after he was followed by his brother, each being posted to a Lancaster squadron as navigator.  On the 31st May of this year Stephen was listed as missing, following upon operations over occupied France.  No further news has been received.
